June 03, 2010 UNA-DYN Pays Tribute to one of our Founding Fathers In remembrance of UNA-DYN's rich, solid history and those who worked so diligently over the years to establish our company as a leader in the Plastics Processing Industry; UNA-DYN recently dedicated a day in early June as “May Day” to pay tribute to one of the Founding Fathers of Universal Dynamics, Earnest May Jr.  

Mr. May co-founded Universal Dynamics in the late 1950's along with three other founding partners.  Mr. May played a major role during the infancy stages of UNA-DYN, pioneering us into the Plastics Industry by connecting the Twin Tower Dehumidifier to a Drying Hopper for the first time.  With the basic Twin Tower Dehumidifying line established, Ernie joined forces with Dewey Rainville to provide a complete range of products for all plastics processors.  

Current President, Bill Goldfarb, presided over the tribute during “May Day” to recognize Mr. May's impact and contributions to our success and to recognize Quarter-Centenarians at UNA-DYN whom have offered 25 or more years of service.

 

April 28, 2010 PIOVAN PET Systems North America Piovan announces Piovan PET Systems N.A., a North American organization established to markedly improve service and support networks in North America. Piovan, headquartered in Santa Maria di Sala, Italy is a leading supplier of PET Drying and Auxiliary Systems which include Pneumatic Conveying, Bulk Handling, Blending/Dosing and Process Water Equipment.  As a continuing strategy to establish a world-wide network of manufacturing, sales and support facilities, Piovan PET Systems N.A. was developed in January 2010 as part of the Piovan Group organization in the Americas, with manufacturing operations in the US and Brazil, as well as Sales and Service offices in Mexico and Canada.

Piovan PET Systems N.A. is part of a much broader reorganization within the global PET business structure of PIovan.  All activities are coordinated through Piovan headquarters from three regions focused in Europe, Asia and America.  Operating out of the Universal Dynamics facility located in Woodbridge, VA, Piovan PET Systems business manager, John Heinrikson, will administer all activities within the Piovan PET System N.A. organization in the US and Canada.

UNA-DYN is proud to be an intregral part of the Piovan PET reorganization.  Genesys, an extremely energy efficient drying system, lauched by Piovan earlier this year, together with UNA-DYN auxiliary and material handling systems, service and support provide optimal solutions for the many PET Preform customers in the US and Canada.

April 07, 2010 Piovan Introduces Genesys PIOVAN introduces Genesys, www.piovan.com/genesys, an innovative new resin drying system designed to deliver the lowest energy consumption ever! Through the implementation of state-of-the-art technology, such as loss in weight control, airflow management and stabilization, an intelligent regeneration process and advanced industrial PC-based control, Genesys is the next generation of PET resin drying, the only auto-adaptive system available today.

Air flow management and stabilization is key to controlling energy consumption.  Piovan has integrated an automatic air flow control and adjustment to reduce energy consumption by 35 – 55% below today’s conventional resin drying systems.  Another exclusive and innovative feature of Genesys is the capability to stabilize the airflow in the drying hopper, for a further drastic optimization of the energy utilization. 

Because regeneration of the desiccant material consumes tremendous amounts of energy, Genesys recovers almost the entire energy utilized in this step of the drying process.  By doing this, Genesys is able to provide savings between 50 – 80% when compared to traditional or current regeneration technology. 

Genesys can provide the lowest energy consumption, when compared to any other drying technology available today, guaranteeing overall savings of 30% and up!  For a system producing PET performs running resin at a rate of 1,000kg/h, this represents a savings of AT LEAST 220,000kW/h per year!

Genesys was launched for preview at the Drinktec Exhibition, Munich, Germany, September 2009 and is available worldwide since January 2010. It represents an important milestone in resin drying technology, for sustainability of the process and energy efficiency!
